Midsummer Magic : Polish Folk Traditions

This photography project explores the vibrant and mystical celebration of Kupala Night — Poland’s ancient Midsummer solstice festival. Rooted in Slavic pagan traditions, Kupala Night marks the shortest night of the year with rituals that honour nature, fire, water, love, and fertility.

Held across Poland on the summer solstice, the festival features bonfire jumping, wreath floating, singing, and dancing until dawn. Young women create flower crowns, lovers search for the mythical fern flower, and entire communities gather to celebrate the turning of the seasons. Through vivid, atmospheric imagery, this series captures the essence of Kupala Night — its warmth, symbolism, and Pagan origins.
